Well life keeps marching on and we grow and learn or gain new insight. For this reason there will be times I need to revisit old entry’s. Rather than going back and editing a post I will be doing update in the form of new post.

Our Moon Has Set- I sat Kal down and told him Luna died and that he wouldn’t see her again. We had a rough week and a half after that with Kal waking up screaming and crying, behavior problems and regressing on the potty training. I finally told him that even though Luna was gone we could still talk about her when ever he wanted to and it was ok to be sad and miss her. Kal-El is doing better now. He talks about Luna every few days. Most things are back to normal but we are still not back to our previous point on the potty training. We had been down to two pull ups per day, one for nap and one for bed time. He’s in pull ups when ever we leave home as well as nap and night. From what I understand the regression would have happened anyway. Once they now they can control potty time little ones use it as a mini-rebellion. We can’t make them go in the potty and they love having that control. Kal will get there in time. We are also talking about getting another dog, maybe an English Bulldog, if we can save up the money. It’s the breed Ster has always wanted and the more I read about them the more I want one too. I think it will be a good companion for Kal.

Sensor on My Bed-I think I’ve figured out what’s going on with my sensor. Kal is waking up about 3 to 4 hours after he goes to sleep. He wakes up again between 3:30 and 4:30 and crawls into bed with us. Can you figure out why? Remember Kal is potty training. Yes, Kal-El wakes up when he has to pee! Don’t ask me why I didn’t see it before. A few nights ago he woke up right on schedule and when I went in his room I asked him what was wrong. Kal half asleep points down, says poo and starts crying. He get so upset because he’s wet! Kal is usually out by 8:30 so if I put him on the potty at 11:30 he’ll sleep though until the 4:30 time. If I could get my butt out of bed at 3:30 a.m. to put him on the potty I wouldn’t wake up with Kal in my bed, but alas, I’ll leave those middle of the night endeavors for our next little one.

“Warning, warning, warning Ma is getting into bed!” That’s the message my 23 month old son gets every time I crawl into bed for the night. I really think at some point he snuck a sensor on my bed!

Most nights I crawl into bed about an hour before Ster. The idea is for me to get into bed and get some reading done as a way to unwind form the days events. I should say here that this rarely works out, because after I reset the sensor as it were I tend to pass out after about two minutes of reading. At that point Ster comes in, takes off my glasses, and turns out my night stand light. Ster is very sweet that way.

Now that sensor seems to go off right after I’ve crawled into bed, got the blanket and pillows just right, and picked out something to read. Kal starts out with a little wine that quickly grows to full out crying until I go to his room. I know what you are thinking: something is triggering his wake up like the sound in the house changes or he naturally wakes up at the same time. None of these work because as I’ve said Ster stays up and I don’t go to sleep at the same time every night. “IT’S A SENSOR I TELL YOU!” Now your thinking “She’s exaggerating it can’t be every night.” “IT IS EVERY NIGHT BECAUSE THE KID HAS A DAMN SENSOR ON MY BED!”

I can’t find the sensor to turn it off so I live with it. Some nights when my day has been pretty rough I think Oh dear lord no more please! On other nights like last night I lay in bed belly laughing for a minute. This crazy job of raising kids is full of tears and laughter and I try to savory every moment because I know it wont last long. He’ll be a man before I know it and he’ll get embarrassed when I tell pepole about the sensor he put on my bed.

Oh, and your right it’s not every night but it is most night. Also that sensor is about 85% accurate when it comes to sending out the “Warning, warning, warning mom and dad are about to have sex!” message.

I’ve had a rough week and it’s only Wednesday!

Over the past 2 weeks our family dog, Luna, has not been doing so well and over the weekend took a turn for the worst. On Monday, I wrapped her in a blanket, picked her up and took her to the vet. I sat in a little room with her as the nurse prepared to give her “the shot”. The nurse tried to comfort me with small talk about how dogs aways let you know when its time to let them go and how she’ll still be looking for Luna to come in for her bath in the months to come. Shortly after that Luna was gone and I was bringing her home to bury in the backyard. Thank you Ster for taking care of the burial.

Luna was a Shetland sheep dog that would have been 16 years old next month. I remember when she was just a few weeks old and I’d put her to sleep in my desk draw because she was so small. She grew up fast and became very protective of my mom and I. She didn’t like anyone touching us or any yelling in the house.

Luna never had any pups so when my son was born he became her first and only one. She wouldn’t let anyone touch him some times even me. It was very cute to see this old dog trying to take care of a little baby. When he would cry she would come and sit in front of me as if to say, “Don’t you here our boy crying?” When I didn’t respond, she’d bark and go off to Kal’s room to look in on him herself. As Kal got older he would harass her all the time and she snipped at him on more than one occasion. On Tuesday, Kal was looking for her and came an asked me for her. I told him very simple she was gone and that answered everything for him. Later that day, on the way to get Ster from work, we passed by the vet. Kal was very excited. He started pointing and asking for Luna. I told him that yes that was the vet’s office but Luna wasn’t there and again he was ok with this answer.

I wonder how often and for how long he’ll ask for her? How much do I try to tell him about what happened to Luna? Any words of wisdom on this would be appreciated. To my Luna I say we had some good times old lady rest in peace!

On Sunday Kal-El (my son) and I took my husband (Ster) out to Bennigan’s for Father’s Day. We don’t eat out often so we never know how Kal will behave. To my surprise he was an angel, well as much as a 22 month old can be an angel. We kept him entertained by playing paper football until the food arrived.

We ordered potato skins as an appetizer thinking Kal would enjoy them but he wanted nothing to do with them. Potato’s and cheese are among his favorite foods and who doesn’t like bacon, so why wouldn’t he eat them? Now Kal has always been a good eater so I get a little annoyed when he starts doing that picky eating toddler thing. Ster pulls out the ketchup from the table caddy and Kal starts jumping for joy. Ketchup! Why didn’t I think of that? Kal LOVES ketchup! Ster tells me to keep that in mind when he doesn’t want to eat ”ketchup solves all problems”.
